According to the group, the call was necessary considering the developmental strides recorded by the Senator over the years.
It would be recalled that, Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe is serving his second term as Senator representing Nasarawa South Senatorial District in the National Assembly from the State.
The chairman of the group, Addra Jonathan Okuba who was in company of members of the association, made the call in a press conference organised in support of Senator Adokwe in Lafia.
Mr. Addra Okuba described Senator Adokwe as a peace maker who had ensured that peace prevailed in his constituency, the Southern Senatorial Zone.
He said: “Having observed the prevalent hash socio-economic realities in our constituency, Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe has lit the candle in the dark and improved the living condition of our people through direct investment in critical sectors of education, health and economic empowerment.
“In his bid to accomplish his desire to bequeath to his constituency and the nation at large those conditions that engender a healthy and prosperous citizenry, Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe constructed and renovated more than thirty blocks of classrooms in villages such as:
GSS Gidinye, GSS Kekura, GSS Duduguru, GSS Kyakale, Giza Central Primary School, Efurigbo Primary School Agwatashi. GSS Agwatashi, GSS Bukan Sidi, GSS Wuse, GSS Jangwa, Mahanga Primary School, Abagu Primary School, GSS Kwara, Andoma Primary School Doma, Isyaka Islamic Primary School, Lafia, LGEA Primary School Doka, LGEA Primary School Gidinye, LGEA Awonge, LGEA Primary School Ankani, GSS Adogi, GSS Kyakale, LGEA Primary School Agwade, GSS Aridi Ajege, LGEA Primary School Kwandere etc.”
He further said: “Senator Suleiman Adokwe also built examination halls at GSS Wuse and GSS Jangwa, Science Laboratory at Okpatta, Library and Information Centre at Keana.
“In support of Universal Basic Education (UBE), Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe generously donated thousands of exercise books at level of primary schools and helped to offset SSCE and JAMB registration fees annually in his constituency, annual scholarship scheme, annual football competition and free computer training programme.
“In addition to these, it is important to state that he has provided safe drinking water to health needs, sank over 25 boreholes in remote villages of our constituency where they had never dreamed of such luxury prior to his gesture. These villages includes Azara in Awe Local Government, PHC Obi, Akpanaja, Gidan Buba, Kadarko, Murya Agyaragu, Gwadenye, Gidan Osa, Ankani among others.
“In order to give his people needed leverage in the commercial area, he built a bridge that connects Rutu-Alagye and Burum-Burum to larger markets to enable them bargain for higher stakes on their farm products.
“In term of improving their perennial yield, he distributed thousands of bags of fertilizer every rainy season to peasant farmers as part of his contributions to economic enhancement.
“On youth empowerment, Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe has bankrolled over 100 youths in his constituency and placed them on monthly salaries.
“He also gives fillip to other youth for self expression by engaging them on National Assembly pay roll at his Constituency Office.
“Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe also gave directive that a vast number of teachers from Abagu and Kwara Primary School be employed on his monthly pay roll to complement effort of the State Primary Education Board.
“Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe has left no stone unturned in carrying out his senatorial responsibilities as an active participant in the upper chambers of the National Assembly.
“He co-sponsored many bills which were geared towards good governance and the overall welfare of the citizenry. His leadership qualities are ably demonstrated in his interaction with fellow legislators, and in the manner he has handled and continued to handle his responsibilities at the Senate.”
The group chairman however, described Adokwe as “an ambassador of peace in his constituency and has provided platform of cohabiting people together even in this environment of diversity of religion and tribal differences.
“Over the past few years, an unprecedented flood ravaged many parts of his constituency rendering many people homeless and causing massive destruction of houses, farmland and infrastructures.
“Also displaced persons who had to leave their homes as the result of the communal clashes, political differences and other social vices were aided and were brought back home with the effort and contribution of our distinguished Senator though some of his efforts can never be quantified.
“It is on this note that members of Nasarawa South Senatorial Youth Progressive Initiative are here to blow a whistle calling on Senator Suleiman Asonya Adokwe to re-contest in 2015.”
Mr Addra Okuba then appealed to the good people of Nasarawa State, Nasarawa South Senatorial District, stakeholders, politician and the general public to support Suleiman Asonya Adokwe come 2015.
He also called on the people of Nasarawa South Senatorial District to shun ethnic and religious differences and embrace peace for the sake of progress and development of Nasarawa South Senatorial District, the State and country at large.
